I confess, I almost forgot about the fact that this scene takes place during their fall semester, right before they leave for winter break in fact! On the first two pages of the chapter I left off any visual indication of the cooling weather. No breeze, no snow on the ground, etc. Fortunately, it’s not too unbelievable these days that it would actually be relatively warm in the middle of the day, even in December. Add to that fact that most of the inhabitants are covered in fur or feathers, and it’s not unusual to see them eschewing typical winter wear.

In any case, I remembered just in time to throw some snow piles on the ground for the next couple pages. This was more important since in the previous chapter, we clearly see Ine walking through the snow at his apartment complex. By mid day though, a lot of the snow could have been plowed, shoveled, or even melted. There would almost certainly still be some visible remnants though.
