Transcript
Luchette strolls through the parking lot, head down and looking sad, as a gust of wind blows past. She looks up as Dil's voice calls out, "Aaaand that's the finish line! That's a new record, folks!" Dil smiles and waves at her as he continues announcing, "Time for our champion to enjoy the sweet taste of victory!" In the background people can be seen coming and going to the apartment building's clubhouse. Lu smiles hesitantly and says, "Aheh... Hi Dil." He responds, "Heya Lu!" He approaches, and then looks up at her with concern and says, "...Is something wrong? You look kinda down." Lu clutches her arm and glances away, saying, "Um... I just..." She looks back at Dil pleadingly and says, "Dil... could I have a hug?" Dil looks back in surprise and says, "Oh, uh... yeah, sure."

Behind the Scenes
You’ll notice a few places in rough drafts that I’ve begun dropping in clip art or other “pre-made” visual elements. I use these as place holders, usually only for background elements. On this chapter for example, I use them to take the place of silhouetted figures during the rough draft stage, and then when it comes time to ink, I draw over the top of them. Obviously, the ones I used in this page wouldn’t fit as is because they’re human figures. But even if they were anthro, I would still take down the opacity, draw over the top of them, and then hide the original. Even if I used the exact same pose, outfit, etc. this is still a useful practice, because it unifies the object with the rest of the scene so it no longer looks “pasted in.”
