We see a closeup of Kraal zipping up his duffle bag as Chris says, "Well, I know you probably want to get an early start tomorrow, but..." Chris smiles tentatively and says, "before you turn in for th enight... you know, only if you have the time..." Kraal smiles and says, "My turn to play th eeagle." Chris grins and pumps his fist excitedly. He leaves the room, glancing back and saying, "Sweet! I'll start setting up the game!" Krall puts his hand on his hip and says, "And I'll try not to fall asleep this time!" Finally, we see Chris, Ine, Dil, and Kraal all seated around a table with a board game in progress. Ine is suppressing a laugh as Dil grins slying, sliding a card across the table to Chris, who looks at it in shock. Kraal laughs, and we see a closeup of his to-do list as an item saying "game night with roommates" gets checked off.
Lark says…
I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to draw Kraal’s hands right in that first panel. Did you ever stop to think about how a bird’s hands would work in an anthro world? Do they have bones in their fingers? Do they have… fingers?? What are you looking at me for…? …Oh, I guess I’m the one who’s supposed to answer that question.
The truth is, while I have fun creating Q&A pages that appear between chapters, I haven’t figured out every answer to *every *world-building question. Does Dil have teeth? He does in this last panel. Kraal does too on an earlier page. But they only have them when they’re grinning or otherwise gritting their “teeth” in order to convey an emotion. So do feathered characters have “hands” and “fingers”? The honest to goodness truth is, I don’t know. If I were creating a story that was more dependent on the nitty gritty details that would make the world as realistic as possible, I’d put more thought into little details like this. As it is though, Aww, Feathers! is more about relationships and lived experience as seen through the lens of a multi-species society. Given that emphasis, it’s okay to let some minor details go unexamined and unchallenged for the sake of making things easier to draw and less distracting for the reader.

Yes it was on his to-do list. Right before getting dressed for bed and then passing out for the third time this week.
