Transcript

We see a closeup of Ine's face as June clicks on a pen light and shines it at his eyes and asks, "Now, are you light-headed or lethargic at all?" Ine squints at the light and says, "I… No, not really. I just--" He's interrupted by June shoving a digital thermometer into his mouth, and he makes a surprised gulping sound as June continues, "Are you warm or cold-blooded?" Ine mumbles, "Mmm… wrmm…?" June checks the thermometer and says, "Body temp is stable. Any tingling in fingers or toes?" Ine asks, "Is all this really necessary?" Mally comes up behind June, smirking, and says, "Make it easy on yourself and just answer the question."

June’s gone full ERT mode. Good luck snapping her out of it!

Behind the Scenes

I’m glad I took another shot at Ine’s expression in the second panel here. In the final version he looks more like he was taken by surprise than the way I originally drew him.

And we’re reminded once again that in spite of being a lizard, Ine is warm-blooded. As someone studying to become a certified nursing assistant, June has been learning how differences in a given specie’s physiology can mean differences in vitals and treatment. If Ine were cold-blooded, it would be normal for his body temperature to be much lower due to his being outside in the cold earlier. Since he’s warm-blooded however, a lower body temperature could be a sign of hypothermia. Turns out his body temp was normal, so nothing to worry about in that area. Still, June wanted to make sure!
